“A practical guide to destroying the city”, an event on architectural and cultural heritage in Valencia.

– Where: wayCO Ruzafa. Sala Crisol.
– When: Wednesday 25th of January at 7p.m.
– How much: free.
– Duration:  2.5 hours.
– Speakers: 5
– Moderator: Amparo Soria, journalist at Levante-EMV.

«Practical guide to destroy the city» are two hours of your life invested in understanding why it is necessary to “destroy” or deconstruct the Valencia that we know and the historical and aesthetic perception that we have of its monuments and public spaces. A day that will focus on the need to evolve and adapt the city to the new lifestyle of its inhabitants, through a more inclusive, social, feminist, experimental and flexible architecture and design. And all this, without losing its own identity.

Three talks. Five speakers. And a journalist in charge.

Do you need prior knowledge? No.
Does Valencia have to interest you? Yes.
Will you enjoy? We hope a lot.

PROGRAM

18:30 Arrive, say hi, grab a beer and relax.

19:00 Presentation
With Amparo Soria, editor in the Politics and Local section of Levante-EMV.

19.20 Plaza del Mercat, a new model of inclusive and accessible urban planning.
The recent remodeling of the surroundings of the Central Market, the Lonja and the Plaza de Brujas is characterized by having been approached from a gender perspective. The result? A unified urban space, with character and designed for the public, in which the assets of cultural interest present in the area have been respected. With Inés Novella, an expert in inclusive urban planning and Unesco Chair for gender policies in science, technology and innovation.

19:40 Enjoy the city
This project speaks of the need for freedom in cities and the search for powerful symbols of reuse. In it, different symbolic locations of the city of Valencia are shown, with daring and fun uses out of the ordinary. Abandoned and degraded places, wasted spaces or small corners with their own identity, are used as a canvas to rethink the city. With Juan Suay, Juan Suay and Bernat Ivars, from the Valencian architecture studio Quatre Caps.

20:00 Experimental faults and The Agora
Taking the traditional celebration of Fallas as a starting point, we will reflect on the commodification of public space and the need to emphasize the most creative aspect of the celebration. With David Estal, architect.

20:20 Colloquium between the speakers.

20:50 “Networking”

Time to talk to the person next to you, in front of you or behind you. On the terrace and cool.

Collaboration: Mahou.
